Provides After Hours and On-Call duties that assist the regular Scheduling Coordinators.  May be responsible to monitor the staffing levels for delivery of care to residents, coordinates master staff schedules to provide adequate licensed and non-licensed nursing staff coverage and maintains schedules for nursing staff, along with attendance records, etc. as it relates to the staffing functions.  Verifies payroll information, submits to Payroll and assists in evaluating the skill levels of Nursing Assistants arranging necessary staff training, mentoring and coaching with the Staffing Development Coordinator, DNS  and/or other Health Care management.


Provides scheduling for assigned departments:

  • Completes schedule for 24 hour staffing coverage on all Neighborhoods and the Skilled Nursing Unit as well as other departments as assigned.
  • Coordinates staffing assignments to ensure appropriate and complete coverage.
  • Reviews and authorizes requests for PTO or other requests for time off, following established guidelines.¬† Seeks approval regarding any unpaid leave of absence.¬†
  • Schedules to prevent the occurrence of overtime.¬† Obtains approval from RN, RCM or Director of Nursing for prescheduled overtime.¬† Monitors overtime reports and works to identify trends contributing to overtime hours and implements action to remedy the situation causing overtime.

Provides payroll verification and monitoring:

  • Verifies payroll time clock punches; investigates discrepancies, and verifies agency billing statements.
  • Verifies eligibility requirements for determining employee incentives each payroll.

Assists management with recruitment and employee performance management:

  • Tracks employee attendance and provides regular reports to Nurse Management.¬† Understands when to report potential protected leave eligibility to management or Human Resources.¬† Completes Employee Leave Records as needed.
  • Assists RN, RCM's and Director of Nursing in the hiring process, screens new employee applications, arranges interviews, and assists with references as needed.
  • Schedules new employee orientation and verifies staff is prepared to work independently.
  • Follows departmental rules and procedures, as well as established safety rules and rules regarding resident rights, staying within limits of allowed resident interaction.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, maintaining a professional appearance in compliance with policies.¬† Follows departmental reporting policies for absences.¬† Completes daily duties as scheduled and completes non-scheduled duties as time allows.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience scheduling 50 employees or more in the health care field preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing with staff, residents and families.¬†
  • Must have team building skills and the ability to prioritize multi-part role using initiative and judgment, with the ability to set example in attitude for others.
  • ¬†Demonstrates leadership ability by being able to lead others toward their goals and a desire for professional growth.
  • Ability to maintain records accurately and with attention to detail, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products and computer scheduling software.
